ASQ Chicago Training Institute Announces Unique Six Sigma Training Opportunity

Six Sigma Laboratory

TI Course Number 4039

This unique 10 week course applies Six Sigma theory and methodology to a real quality problem. The class works at a Chicago-area company to address a specific quality problem. Implementing Six Sigma strategies, team members work to intricately and methodically solve the problem or a series of problems.

This class presents students the opportunity to get the experience of solving a real-live quality problem in an actual company setting. Since this laboratory course focuses on the applications of Six Sigma Methodology and tools emphasizing DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control), DFSS (Design For Six Sigma), IDOV (Identify, Design, Optimize, and Validate.)and others, it is recommended that those interested in registering for this course be familiar with these tools and methodologies.

Other tools and methodologies that may be used include:

  • Gantt and Pareto Charts,
  • Process Mapping,
  • Probability and Probability Distributions,
  • Hypothesis Testing,
  • Process Capability,
  • Statistical Process Control,
  • Design of Experiments,
  • Gage R&R
  • and Multi-Vari Charts

Additionally, the use of statistics software may be demonstrated and used in the project.

The Six Sigma Lab course is an advanced course and presumes knowledge of prerequisite tools used in a Six Sigma project and applied to a real manufacturing problem. Only students who feel ready for this level of activity should take this course.

Attention Prospective Black Belt Candidates: Planning on becoming ASQ Black Belt certified? ASQ Six Sigma Black Belt certification requires that you complete at least one Six Sigma project and submit a project affidavit. This Laboratory course can serve as the required Black Belt project.

In addition to the project affidavit, the Six Sigma Laboratory Class also earns students 3.0 ASQ Continuing Education Units (CEUs or RUs) for recertification portfolios.

ASQ Chicago Section is proud to announce its first ‘Giving Back to the Community’ event under the SR program initiatives. This first charity event will take place:

December 19, 2015 (Saturday) from 7-9pm
Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) Organization
555 Exchange Court, Aurora, IL
http://fmsc.org

Founded in 1987, FMSC is a non-profit organization committed to feeding children hungry in body and spirit. The approach is simple: volunteers hand-pack dry meals (MannaPack) specifically formulated for malnourished children, and FMSC send those meals to partners around the world where they’re used to operate clinics and feeding programs to break the cycle of poverty. FMSC food has reached more than 70 countries around the world.  In 2014, FMSC passed one billion meals produced over its history with over 900,000 volunteers contributing to its charitable efforts. FMSC’s vision is to eliminate starvation in children throughout the world by helping to instill compassion in people to hear and respond to the cries of those in need. By earning Charity Navigator’s highest rating for 10 consecutive years, FMSC is among the nation’s 1% most-trustworthy charities. To learn more about the FMSC, please visit the following site: http://fmsc.org/history.

On behalf of the ASQ Chicago Section, all members and their families as well as guests are invited to register for this charitable event so  together we’ll be able to make a difference and turn hunger into hope for many children around the globe. Let’s make it a memorable event filled with a ‘giving back to community’ enthusiasm and superb charitable drive especially around the Christmas time! It is a rewarding volunteering experience and registration is free of charge (all you need is to donate your time and to demonstrate your compassion). Other ASQ Chicagoland Sections are welcome to join this event. Please register using the online form below. Space is limited and registration has to be completed by 12/14/15 (since a final registration list needs to be provided to the FMSC organization).
