At Mitutoyo, I have 26 years of helping develop quality systems both within and outside of the company. Mitutoyo has had me travel to most of the states in the US and to over seas locations in the UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Mexico, Japan, and China to assist in developing quality system there. I have been the ASQ Chicago Six Sigma Black Belt teacher and have lead a number of Six Sigma Black Belt Lab sessions over the years.

My talk on Measurement System Analysis IV will discuss 8 different Gage R&R types of studies. My goal is to give you insight into these different studies and what you learn from them so you can make better choices when you need to perform a Gage R&R study.

Jd Marhevko is currently the VP of Quality, Lean and EHS for Accuride Corporation. Three (3) Accuride sites have won the prestigious Manufacturing Excellence Award (in 2014-2015). She has been involved in Operations and Lean/Six Sigma efforts for almost 30 years across a variety of industries. Jd is an ASQ Fellow. In 2016, Jd was awarded both the Shainin Medal and honored as one of the top 100 Women in Manufacturing by Washington DC’s Manufacturing Institute. With ASQ she also holds the CMQ/OE, CQE, CSSBB and is a ASQ Certified Trainer for a variety of Quality Tools. She is an MBB and has held various Baldrige Assessor roles. Jd is a Past-Chair of the ASQ Quality Management Division (QMD), a 24,000 member organization and supports several ASQ divisions in a variety of capacities. Jd is a Howard Jones awardee, the QMD’s highest honor. She holds a BSE from Oakland University in MI and an MSA from Central Michigan University.

THE ORGANIZATION

Located in the Midwest, The company is a manufacturer and middle-market machining company with an impressive global customer base and a reputation in the industry for delivering complex products and outstanding quality. With a strategic focus on growth, the company has brought in a new top Management team to take them into the future and support change management to realize its performance potential.

THE POSITION

The Quality Director is responsible for deployment of quality-related initiatives, processes, and practices. The position is also responsible for leading the development and execution of process control and quality management systems, as well as providing leadership to project teams through all aspects of the continuous improvement process to improve quality, reduce costs and increase customer satisfaction.
This position will energize the organization around quality and elevate the organization’s reputation as a best in class provider of goods through positively impacting profitability, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and on time delivery performance. The role will have the autonomy to design and structure the quality organization to meet the company goals and objectives.
This role will provide support for root cause and corrective/preventive actions tied to Supplier Corrective Action Requests. Support Supplier requests tied to program requirements, interface with customer needs and program management activities. Responsible for ensuring vendor adherence to the part engineering drawings, specifications, purchase order and quality flow down requirements with approved suppliers for continuous improvement

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as a member of the Management Team, providing guidance and strategic direction to the company.
• Cooperate with other management personnel in formulating and establishing company policies, operating procedures and goals.
• Provide overall direction, leadership and management of the Quality Management System.
• Management of quality assurance applications such as Internal Audit, Corrective Action Calibration and Supplier Control Systems.
• Drive effective root cause corrective action (RCCA) and problem solving culture.
• Management of quality engineering department and inspection personnel activities to ensure consistency and compliance to the internal and external requirements.
• Reinforce and champion the idea and culture of continuous improvement and motivate ideas for pipeline improvement project.
• Ensure sufficient resources are available to enable the facility can achieve goals and objectives are met from a quality perspective.
• May occasionally perform special projects;

EXPERIENCE
• Five plus years recent experience in machining related industry quality and manufacturing environment
• 10 plus years of experience in a leadership role preferred
• Five plus years of recent experience in Quality Director role managing supervisors, leads, and other direct reports
• Experience building a quality infrastructure that yields results
• Six Sigma and or/LEAN certification (Blackbelt preferred).

Role Overview

The Aircraft Maintenance Operations team is currently looking for an individual who has work experience and background in Industrial Engineering and process improvement; data extraction and data mining; business case analysis and presentation; analytical and statistical modeling. This role will require strategic thinking and strong internal and external client relationship. High-level responsibilities of the role include:

Responsibilities
• Leverages understanding of the business process to identify and implement solutions and influences business processes that will result in significant bottom-line contributions and/or efficiency improvements
• Encourage development and sharing of internal best practices and foster collaboration with internal and external teams
• Execute process improvement solutions to business problems using data analysis, data mining, optimization tools, statistical modeling and machine learning techniques
• Develops the approach and methods to define and solve management problems through quantitative analysis and analytical models, using tools and techniques covered in Operation Research, Statistics, and Econometrics sciences
• Analyze and generate actionable insights from structured and unstructured data and effectively communicate findings and solutions with various groups

Qualifications:

Education
• Bachelor’s degree in the field of Statistics, Operations Research and/or Industrial Engineering required
• Master’s Degree in a quantitative field like Operations Research and/or MBA preferred
• Six Sigma Black Belt certification or related process improvement certification preferred

Knowledge/Skills
• Proven experience in resolving complex process challenges; leader in the area of problem solving and process simplification using Lean Six Sigma techniques
• Be adept in building presentations for senior leadership team
• Adaptability to changing business environment required
• Basic programming skills and familiarity with database querying tools and able to write queries and procedures using Teradata SQL and/or Microsoft TSQL and experience with SAS or R

Experience
• At Least 2 years of experience in Process Improvement
• At least 2 years of experience in analytics required
• At least 1 years of Airline experience preferred

This role will require strategic thinking and strong internal and external client relationship. High-level responsibilities of the role include:

Responsibilities
• Develop and implement analytical methodologies, processes, and technological solutions to develop recommendations for process improvements
• Collaborate with leadership to identify Process Improvement/Process Simplification opportunities and lead Problem Solving initiatives
• Execute process improvement solutions to business problems using data analysis, data mining, optimization tools, statistical modeling and machine learning techniques
• Continuously develop and demonstrate improved analysis methodologies and tracks and measures results of improvement initiatives
• Lead projects as well as couching and mentoring team members

Qualifications:

Education
• Bachelor’s degree in the field of Math, Statistics, Operations Research and/or Industrial Engineering required
• Master’s Degree in a quantitative field like Math, Statistics, Operations Research and/or MBA preferred

Knowledge/Skills
• Proven experience in resolving complex process challenges; leader in the area of problem solving and process simplification using Lean Six Sigma techniques
• Familiarity with industrial engineering principles is a plus
• Proven comfort and an intellectual curiosity for working with very large sets of data, pulling in relevant team members to address identified – and sometimes undiscovered – needs
• Be proficient in using database querying tools and able to write complex queries and procedures using Teradata SQL and/or Microsoft TSQL and hands-on modeling experience on SAS or R
• Be proficient with one or more reporting tools – Spotfire / Tableau / Oracle OBIEE / Brio
• Be able to communicate complex quantitative analysis and algorithms in a clear, precise and actionable manner

Experience
• At least 3 years of experience in analytics and process improvement preferred
