The ASQ Chicago Section 1201 awards a $2500 scholarship each year to a high school student graduating in 2018 to help the student pursue a higher education. Scholarship application must be postmarked by December 1, 2017. The scholarship winner will be announced by March 1, 2018, with the award being made at a spring section meeting.
Eligibility and Qualifications
The scholarship is open to any college bound high school senior in the Chicago Metropolitan area. The applicant must be planning and eligible to continue his or her education at an accredited university, college, vocational school or junior college offering an associate or bachelor’s degree. Interested candidates must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4-point scale or 3.75 on a 5-point scale, complete the scholarship application and submit two letters of recommendation. One letter of recommendation must be from a member of ASQ Chicago Section.
Any member of ASQ Chicago Section can sponsor an applicant for the Scholarship. Your candidate does not have to be a family member – he or she can be a neighbor or co-worker’s son or daughter, or someone you know from church. The High School Scholarship Award was established to honor Maurice Maurer, a devoted member of the Chicago Section.
Criteria for Selection
Applicants will be evaluated by a panel of judges on an essay on describing a personal experience or an idea you have that demonstrates how your think quality would be free.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to complete all steps of the application procedure. No application will be considered complete until all information requested is provided.
