Meet our 2012 High School Scholarship winner
Come to the April meeting of the Chicago Section 1201 and meet our 2012 High School Scholarship winner.
We will be introducing Miss Sara Bleyaert, from Downers Grove High School South. Sara will be presenting her essay on quality which described the elements that constitute quality in the choice of a cell phone.
Congratulations Sara:
The winner of the 2012 Maurice Maurer high school scholarship is Sara Bleyaert. She is a senior at Downers Grove South high school. Sara received the high school academic achievement award in 2009, 2010, 2011. She participated on the Senior Class Board for Senior activities.
She has played an active part in the community by packing lunches for Haiti and organizing toys for "Toys for Tots."
Sara will be our guest of honor at the April meeting. Come and hear her essay on quality.
"Reliability" Presentations:
Dan Burrows' Bio:
Dan Burrows is Corporate Reliability Director at Panduit Corporation. He has over 20 years of experience in the fields of reliability, quality, and six sigma/continuous improvement in the electronics, machinery, and aerospace industries. He is the ASQ Reliability Division's Regional Councilor for Region 12. He is an ASQ CRE, CSSBB, and CMQ/OE. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration.
Dan Burrows Pre-Dinner Presentation:
Many of us are familiar with reliability from our own expectations as consumers and many of us are familiar with reliability as being part of the ASQ family of professional specializations, but what exactly is reliability engineering and how does it fit in with what organizations need to do in the product development life cycle? Join us for an introduction to reliability to see and begin to understand some of the common tasks and techniques used to design for, verify, and deliver reliable products to your customers.
Steve Schuelka's Bio:
Steve received his B.S. & M.S. Degrees in Statistics from Iowa State University and a M.S.E. Degree from Purdue University. He has taught numerous seminars in SPC, Design of Experiments and Statistical Methods at a variety of Colleges within the Illiana region over the past twenty five years. He has been a member of ASQ for 30 years, the last fifteen of which has been at the Senior member level. He is a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), a Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) and a Certified Quality Manager (CQM). Steve worked two years with Philllips Petroleum as a quality engineer, 15 years with Inland Steel Company as a statistical engineer and supervisor, five years employed by The Methodist Hospitals as an Organizational Performance Manager and then as a reliability engineer and statistical consultant on the Space Shuttle Program. Currently, Steve is the Director of the Master of Science in Quality Assurance program at Calumet College as well as the Regional Director for Region 12 of the American Society for Quality.
