Senior Manager, Lean Transformation Change Agent, Chicago, IL

Job Title: Senior Manager, Lean Transformation Change Agent

High profile position, reporting to Lean Architect (Director). Based in Greater Chicago.

Key responsibilities

The Change Agent will help in implementing the management system across the organization and will be responsible for:

Diagnosing the current state of the business with the help of business partners.  Conducting interviews, gathering data, and analyzing current business performance.

Supporting business leaders (Managers, Directors, VPs) in the design of the management system and process related solutions in their area

Developing the skillsets of 2-5 business leaders per area and their teams in the client’s toolkit (i.e., Lean management tools including but not limited to visual performance management, huddle meetings, problem solving, demand and capacity management, standard work, etc.)

Coaching senior leaders on how to shift the mindsets and behaviors of themselves and their teams to instill a culture of Lean, problem solving and continuous improvement

Owning the implementation and maturity of 2-3 tools from the client’s toolkit within the business area and communicating progress to program leadership

Having the ability to take on the role of Lead Change Agent within 6-12 months, with responsibility to lead a group of change agents through their diagnostic, design and implementation in a specific area

Develop and enhance lean training material. Act as instructor for training sessions.

Assess maturity of business areas on adoption of tools and practices, using standard operational definitions.

Lead problem-solving activities to define problems, determine root causes, create and test options, implement and standardize solutions

The Change Agent will work closely with a team of 4-6 other change team members and will be jointly responsible for the development of their management program:

Be a thought partner to the client’s leadership on program-related matters

Help coach newer members of the change team to be effective change agents within 6 months of starting in team

Promote a risk-aware culture, ensure efficient and effective

Skills Required

7 or more years of work experience in Lean, Six Sigma or related continuous improvement areas

Experienced in change management and influencing people without authority

Demonstrated track record of building or improving a continuous improvement program

Strong communications (oral and written), interpersonal, presentation and organization skills

High level of initiative taking and ownership mindset

High comfort with ambiguity

Thinks strategically and innovatively

Able to identify and leverage team member’s unique skills to maximize team performance

Demonstrated comfort with MS Office tools including PowerPoint

Experience in developing, coaching and mentoring leaders at senior levels

Experience in connecting cross-functional businesses with a focus on customer needs

Skills Desired

Advanced degree (MBA or other Master’s degree) preferred

Management consulting with focus on process improvement, lean, change management

Prior experience in large Lean transformations

Black Belt, Master Black Belt certification or Lean Sensei Training
