Toastmasters – learn what it’s about. Are you a competent leader? A critical thinker? Do you have the listening skills of a good leader? We will get an insight of these and what Toastmasters can offer.
MSA, Measurement System Analysis IV (MSA IV – familiar topic, right? Check this one out, see what you can learn. What do you make of this?

Speaker: Robert Fruit
Robert is a Six Sigma Black Belt – he will explain the chart.
Certified Quality Engineer
Graduate of Illinois Institute of Technology in Mathematics
Worked as an actuary for a number of years before joining Mitutoyo in 1991

At Mitutoyo, I have 26 years of helping develop quality systems both within and outside of the company. Mitutoyo has had me travel to most of the states in the US and to over seas locations in the UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Mexico, Japan, and China to assist in developing quality system there. I have been the ASQ Chicago Six Sigma Black Belt teacher and have lead a number of Six Sigma Black Belt Lab sessions over the years.

My talk on Measurement System Analysis IV will discuss 8 different Gage R&R types of studies. My goal is to give you insight into these different studies and what you learn from them so you can make better choices when you need to perform a Gage R&R study.

2ND Presentation

Topics: Predictive Warranty & Reduction Using Paynter Charts

Come hear about Paynter Charts, the Power of the Paynter via risk mitigation, “TOM”, predictive warranty analysis and more. Our presenter –

Jd Marhevko is currently the VP of Quality, Lean and EHS for Accuride Corporation. Three (3) Accuride sites have won the prestigious Manufacturing Excellence Award (in 2014-2015). She has been involved in Operations and Lean/Six Sigma efforts for almost 30 years across a variety of industries. Jd is an ASQ Fellow. In 2016, Jd was awarded both the Shainin Medal and honored as one of the top 100 Women in Manufacturing by Washington DC’s Manufacturing Institute. With ASQ she also holds the CMQ/OE, CQE, CSSBB and is a ASQ Certified Trainer for a variety of Quality Tools. She is an MBB and has held various Baldrige Assessor roles. Pre-Dinner Synopsis:

GPI Prototype & Manufactuing Services
Direct Metal Laser Melting

gpi-prototype-buildingGPI Prototype is a service provider of Direct Metal Laser Melting (DMLM), the latest technology for prototyping and additive manufacturing of metal parts. As one of the first DMLM service providers in the country, GPI produces metal parts for applications  ranging from prototypes to production. DMLM is also known by the acronym DMLS, although the process results in full melting of the metal powder, so we have begun to use the more appropriate DMLM acronym.

Utilizing the DMLM process, metal parts of the most complex geometries are built layer-by-layer (down to 20 microns) directly from 3D CAD data. Parts built using DMLM have excellent mechanical properties equivalent to wrought materials, high detail resolution, and exceptional surface quality. The metal powder is melted entirely to create a fully dense, fine, homogenous structure. Unique geometric freedom of design enables DMLM to form cavities and undercuts, which with conventional machining methods, can only be produced with great difficulty, if at all.

Additionally, when a part needs to be tested and re-designed over and over, the lead time for receiving a traditionally tooled part can create a large bottleneck in the final production process.

DMLM produces parts that are extremely high quality and can be built in a matter of hours or days rather than weeks or months. The ability to generate functional metal prototypes in short order radically impacts design processes, accelerating design cycles and time to market.

Furthermore, these parts can undergo functional testing in the environment for which they were designed. This  technology delivers unlimited potential for engineers to create previously impossible solutions, embracing a new era of design-driven manufacturing.

Please Note: Due to ITAR requirements, all attendees must be US Citizens.
