Workshop 4061--1-Day “Lean” Workshop
Date: Saturday, April 28, 2012.
Location: Triton College, River Grove, IL
What is “lean” about--Lean is about doing more with less: Less time, inventory, space, people, and money. Lean is about speed and getting it right the first time. Lean is an organization-wide practice that considers the expenditure of resources for activities other than the creation of value for the end customer to be wasteful, and thus a target for elimination. This workshop will introduce participants to the principles ,tools, and techniques of “Lean” that they can introduce into their work place and into their daily lives.
Workshop 4021—2-Day SPC Workshop

Statistical Process Control (SPC) is the application of statistical methods and tools to monitor and control a process to ensure that it operates at its full potential to produce conforming product or service. While SPC has been traditionally and more frequently applied to controlling manufacturing line processes, SPC applies equally well to any process with a measurable output, including such enterprises as insurance, government, health and medicine, education, travel, etc. Key tools in SPC are the various control charts and data analysis techniques as a focus and tool for continuous improvement. This workshop will introduce participants to data collection techniques, chart preparation process, and chart and data analysis techniques.

The Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system is a logical, scientific approach to controlling potential hazards in food production. HACCP is a preventive system assuring the safe production of food products. The application of HACCP is based on technical and scientific principles that assure food safety. This 2-day workshop will introduce the participants to the 7 principles of HACCP and will show how using these principles creates a management system in which food safety is addressed through the analysis and control of biological, chemical, and physical hazards from raw material production, procurement and handling, to manufacturing, storage, distribution and consumption of the finished product. Two of the seven Key elements of HACCP are Identifying Critical Control Points (CCP) and Establishing Critical Limits for the CCP’s.
Workshop 4048—1-Day Principles of Kaizen
Date: Saturday, May 5, 2012, 8am-5pm
Location: Triton College, River Grove, IL
The concept of Kaizen can be explained as a principle of continuous improvement. According to the Kaizen philosophy, a series of small improvements made continuously over a long period of time can result in dramatic improvement in business processes. Kaizen is a tool that is used in a business environment which has long-term continuous improvement goals. This workshop is aimed at introducing principles and practices of Kaizen for Continuous Improvement, Cost and Cycle Time Reduction, Elimination of Wastes resulting in long-term and sustainable process improvements and bottom line results.
Workshop 4703—1-Day ISO 13485 QMS for Medical Devices
Date: Saturday, May 12, 2012, 8am-5pm
Location: Triton College, River Grove, IL
ISO 13485: is geared toward the performance of the medical devices and services offered, and on regulatory compliance. The goal of a conforming organization is to "Provide medical devices and related services that consistently meet customer requirements and regulatory requirements applicable to medical devices and related services." ISO 13485 is an ISO standard, published in 2003, that represents the requirements for a comprehensive management system for the design and manufacture of medical devices. This workshop will introduce participants to the requirements of the standard and what steps the organization must go through to prepare itself to become compliant to this standard.
Workshop 4013—2-Day CQIA
Date: Mon/Tue , May 14/15, 2012, 8am-5pm
Location: MAI Center, Downers Grove, IL
The Certified Quality Improvement Associate workshop provides a review of the key topics forming the Body of Knowledge of the ASQ Certifies Quality Improvement Associate certification exam. Main TOPICS include Data analysis and Process improvement steps. Tools including statistical techniques and decision-making in a team environment are also discussed. The CQIA certification exam is designed to assess basic knowledge of quality tools and their uses by individuals who are involved in quality improvement projects, but do not necessarily come from traditional quality areas. This certification training program and professional certification is in response to the rapid spread of quality principles and practices throughout organizations, and covers the basics of quality at a fundamental level in a way that is not addressed by any of the already-existing certification exams.
